Highlander Most Wanted by Maya Banks

Highlander Most Wanted: The Montgomerys and Armstrongs by Maya Banks is a historical romance, the second book in the Montgomerys and Armstrong series. The first is Never Seduce a Scot: The Montgomerys and Armstrongs . This is the story of Genevieve McInnis, a gently bred young lady who was captured on the way to her betrothed by Ian McHugh, who abused her greatly in his obsession with her. Ian makes a critical mistake when he kidnaps Eveline Montgomery. Enter Bowan Montgomery, who claims the McHugh holdings for his brother to avenge the mistreatment of Eveline. Genevieve finds love and hope in his arms.

Highlander Most Wanted: The Montgomerys and Armstrongs made me laugh, tear up, and want to strangle people. The characters really come to life, and I was annoyed when the book ended as I wanted to know more about what happened. The story unfolds naturally, and reaches the usual ending for the genre. This book will suck you in to the story, so clear plenty of time to read it as you really won’t want to put it down!

I give Highlander Most Wanted: The Montgomerys and Armstrongs four and a half out of five stars.

Highlander Most Wanted: The Montgomerys and Armstrongs will be available on March 19th, 2013 and is available for pre-order in the Kindle Store.

The Forever Girl by Rebecca Hamilton

THE FOREVER GIRL (an Urban Fantasy / Paranormal Romance Novel of the Occult) (Forever Girl Series #1) by Rebecca Hamilton is the first book in the Forever Girl series. The book follows Sophia, a young Wiccan with a secret – she hears voices. Thrust into a supernatural world she didn’t even know existed, Sophia battles against love, her new knowledge, her gifts and herself. One thing she discovers that has a big impact on her life is the true story of her ancestors.

Rebecca kept me guessing throughout the book, one minute I’d think one thing, and then it would turn out to be another. THE FOREVER GIRL (an Urban Fantasy / Paranormal Romance Novel of the Occult) (Forever Girl Series #1) is an urban fantasy/paranormal romance book, and it’s a wild ride from moment one. The characters jump out at you and refuse to let you go until their story is told.

I give THE FOREVER GIRL (an Urban Fantasy / Paranormal Romance Novel of the Occult) (Forever Girl Series #1) four and a half out of five stars. I absolutely loved it, and am really looking forward to reading more of the story!

100 Web Sites For Fiction Writers by Ty Johnston

100 Web Sites for Fiction Writers by Ty Johnston is full of links to various sites, from blogs to forums to self-publishing sites. There are also links to review sites, although some of them have closed and are just archived. There is also a subscription site or two. Many of the sites contain tons of information on just about every topic on writing.

One site is actually a radio station for writers, with interviews and lots more. Many of the sites listed in the book are must-haves for writers. Some you may already have bookmarked, but there are many that I myself didn’t know. Some of these sites have the potential to make your writing life so much easier, buy putting critical information at your fingertips.

All in all I give 100 Web Sites for Fiction Writers three and a half out of five stars. This book definitely needs an update, but there is still a wealth of information within it.

Beautiful Beginnings, A Lost Souls Novel by Michelle Matkins

Beautiful Beginnings, A Lost Souls Novel by Michelle Matkins is a novel about a psychic young woman. The print is tiny, so you may want to increase the size of the font. Vienna Rossi is an artist who can see spirits, and like many artists, holds a regular job as well as teaching art classes to students with her friend and roommate Kim. Vienna has a rather difficult time coming to terms with her psychic abilities and her spirit guide Jack, though Kim was very much into what Vienna was experiencing.

Beautiful Beginnings is the second book in the Lost Souls series, though it was easily read as a stand-alone. There is enough back story to convey what happened before, without throwing you out of the story itself. It’s the sequel to Awakened Within , if you want to really get into the story line. This time Vienna has to help Edward, who died on the Titanic. His wife safely got onto a lifeboat, but he keeps reliving his death. Beautiful Beginnings was an amazing read that really grips you and doesn’t want to let go until you reach the end. Definitely a must read if you are into ghost stories, paranormal activity or the like.

I give Beautiful Beginnings, A Lost Souls Novel four and a half stars out of five.

Affirmations and Treatments (Law of Attraction Series) by Scott Soloff

Affirmations and Treatments (Law Of Attraction Series) by Scott Soloff is another Law of Attraction ebook. This book in particular focuses on affirmations as you might have guessed. Affirmations and Treatments (Law Of Attraction Series) explains the difference between the two right from the very beginning. There are many quotes and snippets from Emmet Fox in the beginning as well.

Each section of affirmations ends with self-reflection questions. The affirmations are less like you see in other books and more like articles on each topic. The self-reflection questions are worthwhile, and I personally wrote them all down to use as needed. Many of the topics blend together as well. You may want to write them down, but I will warn you that there are many questions!

I give Affirmations and Treatments (Law Of Attraction Series) three and a half out of five stars. The self-reflection questions alone are worth the time.

Easy Kindle Formatting by Dick Blankenship

Easy Kindle Formatting by Dick Blankenship is one of many ebooks on how to format your story for Kindle. This one walks you through using HTML and MobiPocket Creator. Dick is also using Microsoft Works as his word processor.

Converting the manuscript to HTML is the first step, and he mentions that special formatting (such as bold, italics, underline) may not be preserved in the conversion. Then he walks you through editing the HTML file that you just created, and cover art. Then he walks you through MobiPocket Creator.

Honestly I think Easy Kindle Formatting may have added steps that aren’t necessary. It is another way of uploading your book to Amazon, and may work to create files for other sites that accept .prc files. I give Easy Kindle Formatting three out of five stars, as it is a good resource that may be useful.

10 Cheap Things You Must Have In Your Wardrobe by Meg Anderson

10 Cheap Things You Must Have In Your Wardrobe (And 10 Things You MUST Splurge On) by Meg Anderson starts off with the items you really should splurge on, such as a designer bag. This is a book for women rather than men, the tips are great. Meg explains why she put each of the 20 items into the splurge/cheap category. I don’t necessarily agree with her 20 choices, but it’s a great starting point for any wardrobe.

I give 10 Cheap Things You Must Have In Your Wardrobe (And 10 Things You MUST Splurge On) 3 and a half stars out of five. I think the book could have gone further in depth than it did, but it was great as a quick read.

The 42 Energy Emotion by JJ Sobrinho

The 42 Energy Emotion by JJ Sobrinho talks about crop circles and how each specific pattern affects our subconscious without us being aware of it. He also talks about the vast amount of stress we are under every day of our lives. While the grammar isn’t great, and can cause confusion in particularly awkward phrasing, he still manages to get a point across.

The 42 Energy Emotion definitely could have used an editor or at the very least a proofreader. It also could have used more detailed explanations, though the pictures were a nice touch. I think each picture involves various crop circle patterns, but I’m not 100% sure. Though each one has a brief explanation, and could be useful for meditation or the like.

I give The 42 Energy Emotion two out of five stars. While there was a good idea behind it, the grammar and lack of explanation really made it a difficult read.

1001 Best Ways Volume 1 by Paul Angles has many “best” ways of doing many different things. This is a collaborative project where people submit their tips at the website for 1001 Best Ways. Due to the nature of the project, the grammar isn’t always correct and there are times the tips seem stilted.

Calling Things That Are Not As Though They Were by Barb Witt

Calling Things That Are Not As Though They Were by Barb Witt is a fairly religious book, but you do not have to be Christian to understand the message…although you are allowed to roll your eyes if you feel it necessary. There is a lot of scripture thrown about, and out of multiple versions of the Bible. But Barb does have a very valid point, even to nonreligious or non-Christian people.

In Calling Things That Are Not As Though They Were , Barb talks about faith, and how it operates. One does not usually have faith in that which is already present, but in that which cannot be seen. In many scriptures it is pointed out that God or Jesus says what will be rather than what is. One example is the famous “Let there be light.” There is no wishy washyness when the divine speaks of what will be. There are many examples of each time one speaks of the unseen as manifest.

I give Calling Things That Are Not As Though They Were three out of five stars for non-Christians and four out of five stars for Christians.
